SenRa to Provide LoRaWAN network to IIT Bombay

SenRa, a PAN India LoRaWAN network service provider is creating a buzz across the IoT industry after it announced a partnership with SmartEnds to enhance the waste bin monitoring system in India.

Most recently, Senra signed a services agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) to provide a LoRaWAN network to IIT Bombay, one of the leading technology institutes worldwide.  This partnership aims to support technology developments to various projects funded by the Government of India.

As part of the “Make in India” initiative, launched in 2014 by Indian Government, the IIT supports funded programs with top universities to enable product development leveraging innovations which aim to solve day-to-day problems faced by people of India.

IIT Bombay is recognized worldwide for its education and research. One of the challenges that people of India are facing is quality education, which “Make in India” aims to provide by partnering with leading schools and promoting high quality education including projects in the field of IoT and AI.

As the successes of LoRaWAN in India blooms, IIT Bombay was fascinated by the technology and asked for support from companies with expertise in LoRaWAN. SenRa, as one of the leading LoRaWAN network operators in India, will provide LoRaWAN network connectivity to IIT Bombay for research and development projects.

Ali Hosseini, CEO of SenRa said, “We are extremely happy and honored to have the opportunity to support IIT Bombay on LoRaWAN for their research and development efforts.  He added, "By enabling Universities and students with access to our services, not only are we expanding the LoRaWAN ecosystem in India, but we are also expanding the minds of the future leaders of India.”

SenRa’s LoRaWAN network is now present in twenty cities throughout India, and with this recent deployment in Mumbai, and are on a path to reach thirty cities by the end of the year.

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, the second IIT to be set up in 1958, is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of engineering education and research. The Institute was awarded the status of "Institute of Eminence' by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2018.

It is reputed for the quality of its faculty and the outstanding caliber of students graduating from its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Institute has 15 academic departments, 30 centers, one school and five Interdisciplinary programmes.

Over the last five decades, more than 52,600 engineers and scientists have graduated from the Institute. It is served by more than 643 faculty members considered not only amongst the best within the country but is also highly recognized in the world for achievements in the field of education and research.  The Institute is recognized as one of the top centers of academic excellence in the country. It throws IoT challenges at regular intervals for students to participate in it and bring out the best among them with regards to IoT latest developments.

The institute is encouraging students to create solutions using Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT).
