Making the IIoT Easy: Amazon & Bsquare to Simplify and Speed Up Deployments

Another IoT and Industrial IoT (IIoT) technology company has announced a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), as cloud-connected solutions continue to evolve in the new year.

Bsquare announced today they have selected Amazon Web Services as their preferred cloud provider saying the collaboration will allow them to expand new offerings based on their DataV suite of edge-to-cloud services and software.

“This collaboration is the perfect blending of the strength, scale, and security of AWS with the time-to-value advantages of Bsquare IoT services and software,” said acting Bsquare CEO, Kevin Walsh. “Businesses that partner with Bsquare will be empowered to remotely control and automate device configuration and lifecycle management, integrate to AWS IoT services, and ultimately extract business value from the data they collect. This allows enterprises to quickly begin utilizing their data to manage and direct devices, drive operational improvements, and achieve targeted outcomes across any range or number of assets—automatically and at scale.”

Since being named an AWS IoT Competency Partner in the AWS Partner Network (APN) in 2016, Bsquare has leveraged AWS IoT service offerings including AWS Greengrass, AWS IoT Device Management and AWS IoT Analytics for customer deployments.

The company says it is working with a Fortune 100 global brand that is utilizing DataV delivered over the AWS infrastructure. While the customer is not named, Bsquare says their collaborations with AWS is enabling IoT device and content management for tens of thousands of IoT devices across North America and Europe, “in order to simplify and automate content updates and ensure device compliance.”

The firm selected DataV for its full range of IoT device management capabilities, its ability to provide the services necessary to fully integrate the solution into existing systems, and the fact that the solution leveraged the scale, security and availability of AWS IoT services.

The company did name PACCAR, parent of Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF heavy-duty trucks, as a user of DataV and Amazon cloud to “adaptively diagnose truck failures in order to reduce time-to-repair and improve first-time-fix ratio.”

With this solution, PACCAR was able to tie multiple relevant data sources together with business logic to create a user-friendly, holistic IoT system that scales to hundreds of thousands of trucks. Fleet operators and drivers can now schedule truck service at times and locations that minimize disruption thanks to the insight provided by predictive failure analytics. As a result of this improved repair process, revenue miles have increased, providing faster ROI on truck investment.

“Bsquare has a long track record of success developing solutions running on AWS that help industrial businesses reach their IoT goals,” said acting Bsquare CEO, Kevin Walsh. “We also share the same commitment to constant innovation that is necessary to drive digital transformation across a variety of enterprise and industrial markets. As a result, we are pleased to be able to collaborate with AWS as we work together to develop more advanced solutions for our customers.”

“By leveraging AWS IoT services, Bsquare’s DataV suite can help customers accelerate time-to-value versus customizing solutions in-house,” said Joshua Hofmann, Director, AWS Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “We look forward to working with Bsquare to help our customers achieve additional IoT success at a faster pace.”

DataV IoT services and software solution is designed to help businesses translate insights generated by industrial assets into operational improvements.

Bsquare has been in business far longer than other IoT companies. For more than two decades, the company has connected physical assets generating data to optimize business processes.
